Josh’s comment on social media creating a perfect environment for mob mentality is not new, it doesn’t bring any new insight, but for some reason it really woke me up to it as being a pillar of our fractured societies.
I find myself wondering more and more if pretending that we can have a global (or even national) social community is the problem. We are not built to get along with this many people from very different worlds.
This could have and should have been a better discussion. It never really hit the depths I was hoping for, so perhaps Jenara can be back on in the future? Thinking about it, maybe Josh has mined this and surrounding topics so much that nothing seems new or engaging anymore?
Thank you, agreed. I love Josh's podcast because it's usually two giant brains debating ideas that I need to sprint to keep up with. Not so much this one.
Everyone is distracted by Trump's brashness and egomania and don't penetrative further. Trump is not sneaky and deceptive. He speaks his mind and is very open about what he thinks and what he intends to do and what his vision is and focusses publicly on delivering those things. However he is very open to change. These are refreshing attitudes.
I understand that universalism says that all beliefs are equally valid and we must be accepting of all. To me that is the death of ideological development.

I tend to agree - most days I don’t even agree with myself

I found this podcast unbearable - light and fluffy like a pillow feather
