She plays the "kinder, gentler progressive" but I honestly don't see how she doesn't end up in the same crazyville where those to her left land. The ideas are the same, and where you pushed her on it, she didn't really reassure that she thought about things in such a different way that she wouldn't end up there.
I thought it was a disappointingly soft interview and would have liked Josh to have probed her attitudes with more rigour. The whole interview was most uncharacteristic of Josh who is usually so fearless and honest.
I really felt he did it well… he allowed her to show us exactly where she stood. Josh’s narrative came through much more powerfully without it being overt. Her arguments died simply because they didn’t stack up… in so doing he showed that they’re very close in where they want to go… just not in how they want to get there… which are essentially worlds apart.
Interesting discussion - I am fascinated by the left obsession with Murdock. How many people under 45 still read newspapers? Most people get their new on Insta or TikTok.
Also, Hannah can be forgiven for being slightly naive about the gloriousness of government / bodies that control /judge what is a lie and what not. It works fine when you agree with their dogma, and it doesn't work great at all if you don't
I’ve wondered this for ages! It’s a real ‘tenent of their faith’.
Even the sky guys aren’t even that bad when you actually listen to them and the influence of columnists is so minimal. Seems like it goes with the territory. Smells of scapegoating and they have to blame someone. It has also got that waft of conspiratorial thinking about it. Thank goodness Murdoch isnt a Jew, or they’d lose their mind over it!
Was she suggesting that Peter Dutton was telling people what to think?.. ? If he did do that… there are not many that would listen… lol!
And as for the Murdoch press… the left do seem obsessed… But so much of it seems blatantly ridiculous… not sure how many swinging voters would be swayed by anything in the Murdoch press… plenty of right wing captured voters would sure… but centrist swinging voters… hmmm… hard to believe
She’s 26, and, for a 26 year old of modern times, she’s surprisingly articulate, or more importantly given the climate, an excellent communicator/interlocutor.
Yes, worrying to see that crazy-making standpoint theory stuff creep in at times (and yes, Josh could have pushed back a bit more), but let’s keep it real… she’s impressive.
It worries me that anything less than an acknowledgment of aboriginal sovereignty (ceding this country) is right wing, is a bit of a worry if all the young university educated types think this.
Would have been interesting to add to the final piece of worldly perspective, that the femicide rate per capita in Australia has halved over the last 30 years. You wouldn’t think so given the reporting.
I think we need the podcast apps to be able to differentiate between Josh and Hannah, so that when Josh is speaking, it is played back normal speed, and when Hannah does, it slows down (say, 20%). Almost Ben Shapiro vibes (that's about the speed of talking, not the merit of what she was saying).
I didn't enjoy the episode as much as I thought I might, it was OK.
Maybe I'm just old.
It was nice to hear her say she's actively trying not to hot button topics, but have a more considered opinion. If only everyone in the "new media" tried as much.
I would have liked, not necessarily pushback, but Josh pulling her down to go through an example topic and build her arguments from the start (ie, Israel, Influencers).
Incredible interview by Josh… giving the guest great opportunity to get her points across… whilst with the most subtle and respectful push backs providing sound reasoning where the points were flawed, confused or otherwise naive. It was repetitively mind numbing to hear the response “I understand” only to be followed by evidence that she clearly did not understand at all. Her stance regarding media regulation seemed cultish which is extremely alarming… imagine a scenario where it would be deemed that anyone espousing views not in line with good-old-Christian values was censored or punished and how egregious that would be… perhaps some have held those views in the past..it’s just in this case the cult is woke… anti-colonialism… whatever this most recent form of irrational ideology and dogma is.
Enjoyed this podcast. In reference to the comments above I think Josh did push back and challenge as he always does. The difference is tone and inflection when he has a guest he is on the same page with. Same challenge, different delivery and no ‘riiiiight’ when he hears something he is at odds with. Does way better than I ever could. I also think that for a 20 something full of juice and vigour that’s a balanced and self aware human. Great listen

If Israel is trying to execute a Palestinian genocide, they're doing a terrible job.
Hannah should write a book. I’ve got the heading and by line already worked out for her.
VERBAL DIARRHOEA- how to speak so much and say so little by Hannah Ferguson
An insight into the fatuous progressive youth of today. The over indulged looking tirelessly for a nonsense cause to champion.

Well said.
Some harsh critiques in the comments here.

I wonder if Albo even got a word in?

Still, I enjoyed it. Thanks Josh

3/5!
Thanks Kyle. Look forward to a similar review for each of the podcasts coming out.

The chairs are a big upgrade from the couches, nice job.
Great interview. Also I think she's way hotter than those leaning-in types, mmm mmm I do love tall slim brainy women.
That’s so creepy
Wow. Intelligent, humble, honest and articulate. Great guest. Enjoyable episode.
She’s great
