As much as I agree with Dunning on the UFO issue, he came across like Physics is 'done'. That we've discovered everything there is to discover. I'm not sure if that was his intention.
Even a cursory understanding of science and physics will let you know that isn't true. Relativity and the Quantum realm haven't been unified. There is most likely some aspects of physics that we don't currently know or understand - and for him to speak like there aren't surprised me.
He's likely correct on some of the specifics, i.e. quantum entanglement ect, but that still doesn't mean it's impossible for some unrealized physics method to travel long distances to exist - unlikely, yes... but not impossible. He came across as incurious.
Dunning is essentially a professional enthusiast. A crusty personality from the old "skeptics" days a decade and a half ago. His claim to nonfame was being condescending about stuff he doesn't like into a mic once a week. Even if if was 80% valid, it was unproductive. incurious is his start.
I do not believe we've been visited by Aliens. I'm an atheist. I love science. But Brian is an absolute waste of microphone and always has been. His "Skeptoid" podcast was a shallow, condescending steamer from the bad old days of Facebook arguments and the dark ages of the "skeptics" movement (of which I have very fond memories.) But, Brian contributed so little of positive substance to that time period and has only gotten more dry and sour.
Brian is not engaging, he is not curious and he is not informative in the same ways that today's top podcasters are and should be. For that he is not interesting. Meanwhile, he comes across as a know-it-all who is here to lecture and say "no" but is just too tired to explain anything in depth. This makes him one of the laziest purveyors of scientism today who should have hung up his own hat years ago once his fraud conviction was settled.
What does atheism have to do with other life forms if you don’t believe in a God then you should definitely believe that there are most likely aliens. That made no sense. Christians don’t believe in aliens because it’s not mentioned in the Bible . They adamantly disagree with the theory of aliens so I don’t understand the I’m an atheist. I feel you just wanted to let everyone no you are part of the non religion religion thinking it gives you some clout. You don’t have to put labels on it
tephen Novella said it best, “absence of evidence is not evidence of absence... until it is.” If you’ve actually looked really hard, at some point an absence of evidence for becomes a preponderance of evidence against.
The absence of evidence for the existence of unicorns IS ITSELF evidence than unicorns probably don’t exist.

Then don't listen to him or read his substack and articles. Hey, you always have Michio Kaku and Avi Loeb! You can buy their books and all!
